Everybody has different needs from a laptop, these are mine.

I've been needing a new laptop for a while since mine is getting too outdated. My current laptop has become too slow and is heavy to carry around in my backpack.

My Computer Experience

I have only owned two computers in my lifetime an old Dell desktop and a MacBook pro. I don't remember what model the Dell was but I do remember a couple features it had:

  • CD-ROM Drive

  • Floppy disk Drive

  • 1 USB port

  • Windows Xp

That's about it. It was a good desktop in its time but after some years it became so outdated I could barely do a simple internet search without using hours of my time. The other was a 2012 MacBook Pro it had:

  • 13.3-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen display

  • 2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz) with 3MB L3 cache

  • 2.5GHz 4GB of 1600MHz DDR3 memory

  • 2.5GHz 500GB 5400-rpm hard drive

  • Weight: 4.5 pounds (2.06 kg)2

  • Gigabit Ethernet port

  • FireWire 800 port (up to 800 Mbps)

  • Two USB 3 ports (up to 5 Gbps)

  • Thunderbolt port (up to 10 Gbps)

  • Headphone port

  • SDXC card slot

  • Kensington lock slot

  • 8x SuperDrive

It's a great laptop but it starting to show signs of slowing down.

Budget

My budget will be up to $2000, but I would of course prefer to spend less. I will be looking at Mac and Dell laptops.
